1. Why did we offer UKI?

We enjoy competing in the UKI venue and appreciate the ability to use European judges/designers and the flowing courses that UKI offers.

2. Highlights of the Trial

a. We had over 800 runs at our first event and kept the days under 12 hours
b. Amazing sponsorship and support from local companies and organizations – including breakfast
and lunch each day!
c. Community support and volunteering was incredible and helped the day flow
d. We have received a lot of great feedback about the organization of the trial, courses, the facility
and the event as a whole.

3. About the Facility

Ancaster offers an incredible facility for hosting dog trials. With two huge indoor arenas  – AEC (118 ft x 287 ft) and the Show Arena (100ft x 200ft) – allowing the possibility for a 3 ring event  in the future. The facility offers Silica Sand footing and did a great job packing it down for
us before the event. There is ample parking and 90 RV hookups for future use. We also had use of the sound system which was a great feature and stall rentals to allow for crating away from the ring side. There are ample fields and area to walk dogs in between runs

4. Points to improve on
a. We will use a microphone to announce who is on the line
b. We would like to use less ring fencing to allow for easier viewing and reduce set-up time
c. Use the timers to show walk-through times
d. Better speakers for timers to make it easier to hear the buzzers

5. We had A LOT of people trying UKI for the first time, which was amazing. There was so much success that we nearly ran out of ribbons! We also had several competitors earn titles and share their photos with us which was great!

6. We had only positive feedback from competitors regarding the courses. We will happily use both judges again, and will continue to try to use European course designers at our trials.
